I actually have been meaning to make mention of this for a while… er, since Sweden (June, wow). Having just stumbled upon an old Craftzine blog post about it and being happily procrastinating, now seemed like just the time.
On my last evening in Stockholm back in June, I was meeting up with some colleagues for dinner on Gamla Stan. I was early (freaky, I know), so I found a nice place to sit in the triangular square where Kindstugatan begins. It was a beautiful evening, sunny and a bit chilly. Groups came through the square now an again, but it was quite peaceful. I took out my camera to try and capture the scene, maybe take a make-shift panorama shot.
As I rotated around, snapping pictures, something caught my eye on the garbage can near the bench where I was sitting: a knit tube in two shades of pink had been stitched onto the top of the garbage can. A nice knitted surprise for the last evening of a very knitty trip!
A la Knitta in the Southwest US, Masquerade brings knit graffiti to Stockholm. If you’re in town, you might consider printing out this handy map of a number of the tagged items near the Old Town.
